Should you talk to your plants?08 May 2020Now please stop laughing, after all King Charles is said to talk to his plants……… I don’t know about you but I talk to my dogs and sometimes I think they even listen to what I say but if nothing else it makes me feel good. Sooo why not our plants? We buy plants and keep them inside because they brighten up our homes, they look nice and they make us feel good. But plants have other uses too. Did you know that they can get rid of harmful chemicals by absorbing such as formaldehyde, xylene and toluene? Saying that you would need a lot of plants in your home to make a huge difference but then again, NASA has done a lot of research into houseplants and their benefits. So there must be something to it. But back to the question of; should we talk to them? Well now that you have stopped laughing the answer is actually YES and here is the science to go with it! Humans (and Dogs) breathe in Oxygen and breathe out Carbon dioxide….. Plants breathe in Carbon dioxide and breathe out Oxygen….(One of the reasons we really should think twice about destroying the worlds rainforests!) By sitting next to your plants and talking to them you are actually providing them with gasses they need to stay healthy and in return they do the same for you! Bet your not laughing now? Sooo….Should you talk to your plants? The answer is yes! Of course the question of what you discuss with them is an entirely different Subject! Some Houseplants recommended by NASA that help purify the air and have a great Carbon -dioxide / Oxygen exchange: Areca Palms, Sansevieria, Money Plant, Gerberas, Aglaonema, Spider Plant, Aloe Vera, Rhapis Excelsa, Dracaena, Ficus Bejamina, Chrysanthemum and Rubber Plant.
